Treehouse Lounge @ Cafe Fiore

On Friday night I went downtown with some of the girls. We went to a couple different places, like usual we went to Dargan's and Rookees. Then we went to Cafe Fiore's Treehouse Lounge and it is my new favorite place to go! It is located at the back patio of Cafe Fiore. It is outside and they have patio heaters to keep you nice and warm. The bar is neat it looks like a tree. The servers are very friendly and serve you quickly! There is lots of seating, each booth is sort of secluded. There is a nice size dance floor and they played great music. Downtown Ventura really needed another place to go dancing. We had a blast, we saw a good amount of people we knew but we also made some new friends. The atmosphere is very fun and inviting. There was not a specific age group there either, it was a nice mix. We didn't have a chance to eat there but I would like to go there for dinner sometime.

Lake Casitas

On March 4, 2008 The Casitas Municipal Water District Board of Directors made the decision to close down the lake to outside boaters for one year. The reason for the close is due to the invasive Quagga Mussels as well as Zebra Mussels. Both of these mussels are invasive species that threaten to clog the state's water-delivery systems and damage freshwater ecosystems. The mussels are currently living in the Great lakes and have caused hundreds of millions of dollars in damage. They also eroded many of the native species. Any boats that are currently stored or moored at Lake Casitas continue to have access.

Like Summer in February...Ventura, CA

This last weekend and so far this week Ventura has received summer-like weather. It was about time for some sun! The beaches were more packed than usual for a February day this weekend. I went to one of the local beaches and enjoyed volleyball and soccer along with some friends. Max, Will, and Kamal enjoyed boogie boarding as well as the surf and sun. The boys are in front of 280 N. Linda Vista in Ventura California, which is another fabulous listing by JK Mondol of Pacific Rim Realtors. From this location it is only about 5 minutes away from the beach.

A couple of fridays ago some friends and I went downtown to The Anacapa Brewing Company for some dinner. We shared a beer sampler, which is a small glass of their beers that are currently on tap. I am not much of a beer girl but I enjoyed every choice they had to offer. All of their beers are packed with flavor. They also have a hard cider which is very smooth and delicious, as well as a wine list. The beer that I sampled was the Pierpont Pale Ale, the Seaward Golden Ale and there were three others that I don't remember the exact names, one was an Espresso flavored beer and one was a Barley flavored one. I enjoyed the sampler, I liked that I was able to try each of their brews without having to purchase a full glass of each.

Their menu has a wide variety of choices. I enjoyed the Fettucini Al Pesto with Grilled Chicken and it was amazing. Jessica ordered the Filet Medallions which was also very tasty. Mackenzie ordered the Salmon Penne, I didn't try this but she liked it. And Rhiannon enjoyed the Brooklyn, which is a sandwich.

The environment is very fun and friendly, a small town hang out joint. I saw a few people I knew and visited with them for a moment, which was nice. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. When we went it was raining so we were only able to sit inside but when the weather is nicer you can enjoy seating on the patio right on the sidewalk and do some people watching.

During a week of rain, the coldest storm Ventura has seen in a long time, it was around 6:00 PM and I was in my room at home in the Ventura Keys, and all of the sudden I hear rain pounding on my sliding glass door and my dad yells upstairs, "Rebecca! It's Hailing!" At first I just thought the rain had changed directions and started to get heavier. I went outside and there it was, in our sunny warm town of Ventura, we had hail! The streets were covered and it looked like we had received snow. Hail is slightly different than snow, its more like ice, than powder. One of my teachers told our class that it was going to hail and I didn't believe her for one minute. I was thinking Yeah! right! Ventura get hail? No way. Sure enough she was right. For it to hail in Ventura it had to be freezing cold however despite the chilling weather Ventura still produced amazing views.

Just down the hill from the previous posted Ventura Hills home is Ventura High School's Larrabee Stadium. Just a week ago it was the site of the hugely hyped game between two of Ventura County's powerhouse football team Oaks Christian and St. Bonaventure. Around 8,000 tickets were sold to the game, some were reportedly scalped for up to $75. The game drew a lot of attention from the media. There was even a helicopter circling the stadium.

Being true Ventura fans we chose to throw an impromptu party and watch the game from a home above the stadium. Considering it was a blow-out, we probably had a better time than most of the fans attending the game. Ventura County does bring on some pretty good football, though. Any Friday night, you'll find great high school teams playing. Saturday is when it all starts with youth football in the PYFL league.

Now that the drizzle of rain has cleared the air of the Day fire smoke, Ventura is returning to normal. The air is sweet again. The views are clear. Wow, the red sky sunsets were awesome though!
